Castles

CASTLES and PALACES

There are many historic buildings and monuments in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. I am surrounded by castles, Palaces, moated castles, mansions and Monuments. Wonderful witnesses of bygone eras. Majestic and exalted with medieval charms they dominate the surrounding areas. The castles and palaces bear witness of the local history. Magnificent castles, legendary castles and picturesque gardens. Historic monuments always fascinate me. Here, in this photojournal, you can see the results of my photo excursions to these wonderful places.

ARCHITECTURAL TREASURES

Historic buildings are important witnesses. Buildings allow to draw conclusions about the people who lived at the time when these buildings were built. For example, churches and cathedrals of the Middle Ages were built with great effort and sacrifice. some of these buildings are destroyed, burned down, collapsed again and again. And yet, the buildings were constantly rebuilt or adapted to new needs.

Castles and Palaces I visited

This lower photo gallery shows the castles and palaces I visited. All these historic buildings are close to me and are always, in every season, a worthwhile photo opportunity. Most of the buildings are home to a museum or a restaurant. That's why these locations are always a nice destination.

If one imagines an enchanted, romantic castle ruin, the Hardenstein ruin certainly comes very close to this idea. The Gothic tower house from the 14th century is located directly on the Ruhr.
